Documentary

Joy and pain, sunshine and rain as the song goes. I look back at the picture above and the poem below. I took it around the time I wrote it. I took the one above it today.

Standing Still Awaiting
by me; on this sunny Sunday day
July 27, 2008

Poetry recovered
Hope reclaimed
Standing still awaiting
Moments pass me by
Observing them amidst the stillness
Flesh begins to age
Moments recollected
Story told on face
Broken bones and laughter
Hidden deep beneath the surface
The pangs of birth reveal
A child unchanged in glory
Familiar becomes
As a long lost friend
Or first love
Recognized as having been
Wrought by heaven’s means
The soul returns to yearning
The comfort of a mother
And strength of a father
The affection of both
Though one may never offer
Hope reclaimed

(a day in June 2009)
making sense
of the seeming senseless
that drives our senses
further into senselessness
structure
Institution
like a lighthouse
to ships lost at sea
the solid foundation of society
till the veil
like Toto lifted
to see a little man
dance little
man dance
