Valentina
by, Daniela Boata
It's at once comforting and heart wrenching
To behold normalcy
The way I see
In Valentina
It's curiously odd
To behold normalcy
And feel sympathy
Or maybe it isn't
What is new under the sun?
I swim in the tears of humanity
I linger on the scars of depravity
And yet
Revisited by unfriendly reminders
With their gaping mouth open wide
As to swallow me alive
The sweet enduring reality comes into focus
Whilst on the brink of poverty
I am full with prosperity
In the knowledge that has set me free
The love that keeps me keeping up with him
